Australian Government Quality Teacher Program

The Australian Government Quality Teacher Program provides funding to non-government education authorities to run projects and activities that offer professional learning for teachers and school leaders.

The Australian Government Quality Teacher Program provides funding to non-government education authorities in each state and territory to improve the quality of education delivered to Australian primary and secondary students. The funding enables the authorities to run projects and activities that offer professional learning for teachers and school leaders.

The program aims to:

  • equip teachers with the skills and knowledge needed for teaching in the 21st century
  • provide national leadership in high priority areas of need for teacher professional learning
  • improve the professional standing of school teachers and leaders

Australian Government funding for the program for the period 2011-2013 is $22.5 million.
